What Is an API Key?
An API key is a secure digital bridge between your exchange account (for example, Binance, Kraken, Bybit, or HyperLiquid) and Bothub.
It allows Bothub to communicate with your exchange — to read balances, track positions, and execute automated trades on your behalf — without ever asking for direct access to your login or withdrawal rights.
✅ Think of it like giving Bothub a remote access for trading, but without giving away your actual keys to the vault.
How It Works
When you create an API key on your exchange:
1. The exchange generates two parts — a Public Key and a Private (Secret) Key.
2. You copy both and paste them into the Bothub connection form.
3. Bothub uses these keys to send encrypted trading commands through the exchange’s official API system.
All communication happens via the exchange’s secure API, using encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL). Bothub never stores or requests your login credentials — only the API keys you create.
Why It’s Safe
Your security is always the top priority. Here’s how we keep your connection safe:
Read-only by default — Bothub never requests withdrawal or transfer permissions.
IP Whitelisting — Each key is restricted to Bothub’s trusted server IPs.
Encrypted storage — Your API credentials are stored in encrypted form and can’t be viewed or exported.
Instant revocation — You can delete or regenerate your API key anytime from your exchange account.
✅ Even if someone obtained your API key, it wouldn’t allow them to withdraw or move your funds — only Bothub’s authorized IPs can communicate through that key.

API keys are what make automated trading possible. They allow Bothub to:

Best Practices
To keep your account safe:
1. Always enable IP restrictions when creating the key.
2. Never enable Withdrawals permissions.
3. Rotate (regenerate) your keys every few months for extra security.
4. Keep an eye on your exchange’s security notifications.
5. Contact Bothub Support immediately if you notice any suspicious activity.
