How to Enable and Manage 2FA

Learn what Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is, why it’s important, and how to enable it on your Bothub account for better protection.

Updated over 3 months ago

What Is 2FA and Why It Matters

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your Bothub account. Even if someone knows your password, they won’t be able to log in without a second verification code from your phone.

💡 2FA helps prevent unauthorized access, especially if your email or password ever becomes compromised.

When 2FA is enabled, every login or sensitive account action (like API changes or password updates) will require both:

1. Your password

2. A one-time code generated by an authenticator app on your phone

Step 1 — Log In to Your Bothub Account

1. Go to app.bothub.trade.

2. Log in with your usual credentials.

3. Once logged in, click your profile icon (top-right corner).

4. Select SecurityAuthenticator App (2FA).

Step 2 — Confirm Your Identity

Before enabling 2FA, you’ll be asked to confirm your current password. This step ensures that only you — the account owner — can activate additional security.

Step 3 — Install an Authenticator App

You’ll need a 2FA app on your smartphone to generate one-time security codes. Popular options include:

  • Google Authenticator (iOS / Android).

  • Authy (iOS / Android / Desktop).

  • Microsoft Authenticator.

Download and install one of these apps from the App Store or Google Play.

Step 4 — Scan or Enter the Code

On the Bothub 2FA setup screen, you’ll see a QR code and a backup key.

1. Open your 2FA app.

2. Tap Add.

3. Scan the QR code shown on Bothub, or manually enter the backup key if scanning isn’t available.

The app will instantly generate a 6-digit one-time code for your Bothub account.

Step 5 — Verify and Activate 2FA

1. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app into the confirmation field on Bothub.

2. Click Enable 2FA.

If everything is correct, you’ll see a success message confirming that Two-Factor Authentication is active.

Step 6 — Email Confirmation

After enabling 2FA, you’ll receive a confirmation email from Bothub.

This email notifies you that your account now has enhanced protection enabled.

📧 If you didn’t initiate this change, contact [email protected] immediately.

Managing or Disabling 2FA

To manage your 2FA settings:

1. Go to Profile → Security → Authenticator App (2FA).

2. You can disable or reset your 2FA here after confirming your password.

If you lose access to your authenticator app, please contact our Support Team — we’ll help you securely verify your identity and regain access.

Best Practices

  • Keep a backup of your 2FA recovery key in a secure place.

  • Never share your one-time codes with anyone — not even Bothub staff.

  • Use different 2FA apps or backup methods for different platforms.
